Activity Name: Guided Hill Walk No 3: Meal Fuar-mhonaidh near Drumnadrochit Venue: Meall Fuar-mhonaidh (Mountain) Start Date: 14/08/2022 at 10:00am Dates: 14/08/2022 Must Book All Dates? Yes Description: 9km/5.5miles Join us for a walk up this beautiful pudding shaped hill by Loch Ness with magnificent views all around. The hill is steep in places so we will be taking it slow and steady, but a reasonable level of fitness is required. Boots and gaiters for the boggy lower slopes essential! This is the 3rd in a series of 4 guided hill walks we are offering over the summer. Activity Name: Quinag Mountain walk Venue: Lochinver Mission Start Date: 17/08/2022 at 10:00am Dates: 17/08/2022 Must Book All Dates? Yes Description: Explore this fantastic Assynt mountain (808m) with our partners the John Muir Trust. Look for Mountain Hares and Ptarmigan. This is a strenuous walk. Participants must have good fitness for steep and rocky terrain and bring appropriate outdoor clothing, footwear and lunch. The distance is 14km.This walk is subject to good weather conditions and if the weather is not good, we will do a shorter low-level walk. Meet at the walkers car park, on the A894 road. Join the Ranger at Evanton Woods once a month for a story followed by some snacks by the fire and then some activities relating to the book. Activity Name: Highland Mammals: Seawatch at Rubha Reidh, Melvaig near Gairloch Venue: Abernethy Golf Club Start Date: 25/08/2022 at 11:00am Dates: 25/08/2022 Must Book All Dates? Yes Description: We continue our celebration of Highland mammals with a walk and seawatch at Rubha Reidh, a point ideal for sea watching, if the conditions are right. Activity Name: Highland Mammals: Bat Walk, Ullapool Venue: Ullapool Riverside Start Date: 06/09/2022 at 7:30pm Dates: 06/09/2022 Must Book All Dates? Yes Description: It is time to shine a light on our fantastic bats. We will be looking and listening for and learning about different bat species as we walk. The bats are feeding up in preparation for hibernation at this time of year so should be hunting at dusk. We will listen to the bats using detectors to translate their high-pitched echolocation squeaks. Suitable for adults and families with children over 6 years old who are happy to walk. It is an aerobic sport with a competitive pathway. We ask that parents or carers stay for the session and support them getting into the frame runner. Adjustments may take a few weeks to get right. We meet at the Alness Crawl Park at 4pm during the summer months, 3pm during the winter months. We will at times meet at different locations, all of which will be communicated to you as appropriate.
